The 135th Canton Fair's second phase was held successfully from April 23rd to 27th, despite extreme weather conditions such as continuous rainstorms. Global exhibitors and buyers still enthusiastically participated in the event, demonstrating the continuous "super flow" effect of the Canton Fair and the attractiveness of "China's No. 1 Fair" to the global business community. Today, we would like to share with you the highlights and trends of the second phase of the Canton Fair.
1. Design innovation and green low-carbon become the most prominent highlights
The second phase of the fair witnessed a significant increase in the number of offline exhibitors, reaching 9,820, of which over 1,400 were honored as national high-tech enterprises, manufacturing single champions, and small giants with specialties. Enterprises generally focus on utilizing new technologies to transform and upgrade traditional industries while committing themselves to adding innovative and environmentally friendly elements to daily consumer products. A vast number of innovative, high-quality, and low-carbon products demonstrating new productivity emerged continuously, becoming the "new business card" for China's manufacturing industry to explore the international market. Buyers expressed their trust in China's manufacturing industry, praising "China has the best supply chain" and saying "Canton Fair never disappoints."
2. Online platform empowers exhibitions to become a trend for merchants
The more functional online platform and social media channels provided buyers with the convenience of searching for information in advance, booking offline negotiations, and exploring more business opportunities. As of April 27, exhibitors uploaded more than 2.5 million exhibits, and the cumulative number of visits to exhibitors' stores reached 2.99 million; the total number of visitors reached 8 million, of which 89% were from overseas; 366,814 overseas buyers from 229 countries and regions participated in the online meetings, with a significant increase in the number of buyers from ASEAN, RCEP, and BRICS countries.
3. Good Trade Matchmaking Trend
Since its opening, this year's Canton Fair has attracted a large number of participants, making the site very popular. As of April 27, a total of 191,928 overseas buyers from 214 countries and regions have participated in the fair, representing an increase of 22.1% compared to the same period of the previous session. Among them, buyers from "Belt and Road" countries accounted for 64.8%, or 124,342; buyers from RCEP countries accounted for 24.3%, or 46,663; and buyers from Europe and America accounted for 20.2%, or 38,864. In addition, the Fair organized 216 "Trade Bridge" promotional activities, attracting more than 340 buyers and more than 1,000 suppliers to participate in "one-to-one" matchmaking negotiations, with an intended procurement amount of about 250 million U.S. dollars. The event also included sectoral activities such as promoting new productivity and high-quality development of industries, promoting high-quality foreign trade to the sea, as well as 66 new product launches and debut exhibitions and shows. In addition, a zone for import and export economic and trade activities of the "9+2" cities in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao was set up, and the "Night of the Greater Bay Area," a food and music festival of the Canton Fair, was organized to provide economic and trade cooperation and exchange services for exhibitors from the Greater Bay Area.
